Why Does Everybody Want to be an Influencer? (most make no money)

What’s up, everybody?

I know we tend to look up to those that we view as public figures, and that is the case with influencers now on social media. There is a problem though. We perceive these folks through a much different lens than who they actually are, and we also perceive these folks with “followings” to be much more successful than they are.

There is a type of influencer though, a “niche influencer” that are the highest earning influencers, and that is someone offering “niche” content. Someone with a woodworking channel, or someone helps others with advice on coaching baseball, or someone that is offering gardening tips.

These influencers have “marketable” value to a company, as companies in that niche can effectively promote products/services to that influencers followers.

Niche influencers get niche companies wanting them to promote their products and services, whereas generalized “look at me” influencers are dime a dozen and don’t succeed.

So if you are “doing social” for the sake of trying to create a following, and not for the purposes of helping people in a particular niche, you are wasting your time and energy.

… Energy that can be much better served building an actual business, which starts with a website which is the foundations building block of any successful brand online.
